Calculating GPA During the NHS/NJHS Selection Process
This article is being reprinted from the National Honor Society Q & A. Visit the NHS/NJHS website for more!
How do we calculate GPA for determining eligibility (i.e., candidate status) for our students?
The National Handbook provides a thorough explanation of this matter in the chapter on Selection Procedures. The scholarship requirement set by the National Council is based on a student's cumulative grade point average. The phrase “cumulative grade point average” refers to...

Charity Bracelets for Sale
Looking for a way to generate more money for the Charity of the Year? We are collecting estimates from schools on how many bracelets they would like to buy and re-sell to raise money for Penrickton Center for Blind Children. Bracelets will be sold to schools for $1 each in lots of 100. Many schools are able to then re-sell the bracelets anywhere from $2 - $10, either as a stand-alone sale or in conjunction with dance or event tickets. To help us determine how many bracelets to buy (they will be royal blue, but the phrase has not been determined yet!), please submit an estimate of what your school might purchase - this is not a guarantee, just an estimate!

Take a minute and imagine that you are blowing up a balloon, keep blowing and blowing never letting any of the air escape. Many parents believe the more activities their student is involved in the better prepared they will be for their college application. This assumption is false. A 2004 survey, which assessed the overall well-being of 47,202 undergraduates nationwide, reported ...

Penrickton Update!
Here's an update from Penrickton Center for Blind Children! We hope your school is planning a fundraiser to help this amazing organization!
The children at Penrickton Center have been enjoying the fall activities around the community. As many of you went to cider mills, picked pumpkins and apples, so did the children at Penrickton! Course they had to use their senses to experience the "look" of the pumpkin with their hands, the scent of an orchard, the sound of the leaves and the taste of candy apples. As you enjoy the senses of fall the children thank you for being part of something big - thanks for making these smiles!!!
Thank you for the support and belief that YOU can make a difference in the lives of some very special children! You are all welcome to come and visit Penrickton Center and/or contact me to come to your school to speak!
