There is no mirror on the wall to let us know what direction Michigan’s newest governor and legislature will take when it comes to supporting education.  Michigan’s governor-elect Rick Snyder posted his top 10 principles for reinventing Michigan on his campaign website with “Reforming Michigan’s Education System" on the list at number eight.

The Truth About Public Schools

I read an article in September by John Stossel, investigative journalist, entitled “Schools do not need money.” In the article, Stossel quotes Andrew Coulson of the Cato Institute’s Center for Educational Freedom who wrote that out of 14,000 school districts in the United States, just seven cut their budgets seven years in a row, and just 87 cut their budgets five years in a row.

Michigan School Districts Receive ASBO International's COE Award

asbo logo ASBO International recently announced the following Michigan school districts have received the Certificate of Excellence (COE) in Financial Reporting. The award is based on the submission of the district’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ending 2009.
